'AMSTERDAM in State of Siege'
(2021)
Once the curfew was a fact, riots started and the fancy shopping mile in Amsterdam-Zuid changed into a war-zone alike area. Shops with luxury goods were protected by quickly built prefab concrete walls, sea containers and wooden barricades.
It did not take long and artists took it over and turned the cold and ugly walls into art as if it was their canvas. The colorful street art and catchy oneliners made it less depressing for the locals.
